Marilynn Hedrick Beck, 71, of Doc Beck Road, passed away at her home Thursday morning, July 17, 2008.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Max Shoaf.
Marilynn was born in Davidson County on Nov. 24, 1936, to A.A. Hedrick and Thelma Clapp Hedrick. She was a member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ. She spent much of life working as a secretary/receptionist at the Davidson County Mental Health Center, retiring in July 2001. She was fondly known as "Mrs. Doc" when she was co-owner of Friendly Market and Doc Beck's Café on Talbert Boulevard and Fairview Drive. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Louie and Frank Hedrick; and a sister, Martha Louise Hedrick.
Survivors include her husband, Brasco "Doc" Beck of the home; son Kevin Beck and his wife, Tammy, of Lexington; daughters Cindy Beck Barber and her husband, Bobby, of Cheraw, S.C., and Mitzi Beck Taylor and her husband, Bobby, of Lexington; six grandchildren, Nicole and John Mark Barber of Cheraw, S.C., and Amber Tolbert, Sarah Beck, and Heather and Megan Bowden, all of Lexington; brother Dwight Hedrick of Cary; and a sister, Mary Dean Trotter of Asheville.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday and at other times at the home.
