Marion David, a beloved wife, mother, and proud daughter of Scotland, passed away on January 29th, 2026, at the age of 85.
Born on May 22, 1940, in Glasgow, Scotland, she was one of four siblings. Her early years were spent in the rhythmic work of a bookbinder in a local factory, a testament to the work ethic she carried throughout her life. In 1972, she embarked on a new chapter by moving to America, where she married the love of her life, Oscar David Jr.
As a military spouse, she embraced a life of adventure, traveling to numerous states and countries alongside Oscar during his service in the United States Navy. After his retirement, the couple settled in Orlando, Florida, where she flourished professionally as a makeup artist and subcontractor for prestigious brands such as Revlon and Lancôme.
She never lost touch with her heritage. A dedicated member of the Rosie O'Grady Highland Band, she found joy and community playing both the tenor and bass drums. Her expertise and passion for Scottish tradition led her to serve as a judge at Highland Games across the country, ensuring the culture she loved so dearly continued to thrive.
Above all, she was the heart of her family. She was a devoted mother to her three children and took immense pride in her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She made it her mission to ensure each grandchild felt uniquely loved, carving out special time for each. In her later years, she cherished traveling with her sister-in-law, Alice Mae Dempsey, and Sam Jacobs.
In 2018, she and Oscar moved to North Carolina to enjoy being closer to their youngest grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Oscar David Jr.; her three children, Mark Williamson, Dawn Frye, and Carla Ochier (Ryan Ochier); her grandchildren, Zach Frye, Allison Frye, Lauren Ochier, and Jackson Ochier; and her great-grandchildren. Her legacy of music, beauty, and fierce family love will be missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Davidson Life Center, lexington NC Here, or Davidson Animal Shelter, Here in memory of Marion David.
