Marion Sowers

Marion Ray Sowers, age 90, of Welcome passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston.   A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Beulah United Church of Christ with the Revs. Trudy Irving and Bill Foust officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.   The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.   Mr. Sowers was born in Davidson County on August 17, 1927 to Conard Ray Sowers and Precious Jenkins Sowers. He was a faithful member of Beulah UCC, where he served on many committees. Mr. Sowers retired from Welcome Oil/Holden Brothers after 43 years of service and was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a genuine man who loved his family dearly, and he will forever be in their hearts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Moseley, and Doris Davis.   Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, Annie Foust Sowers of the home; his three loving daughters, Marilyn Thomason (Steve), Pamela K. Weaver (David), and Lisa Fowler (Gene); his brother, Tommy Sowers (Rosemary); and his sister, Peggy Darr (Carey) all of Welcome. He was also survived by eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.   Memorials may be directed to Beulah United Church of Christ at 2828 Arnold Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
