Marion Lowe Tarkington

Marion Lowe Tarkington, 84, of Hunters Ridge Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. A Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, by the Rev. Cecil Cave. Mrs.Tarkington was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Ponzer to Samuel Henry Lowe and Ikie Mae Spencer Lowe. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She served with the North Davidson Extension Community Association. She was a past member of Davidson County Twirlettes, as well as a past president of Forsyth Home Extension Club. She was a Silver Arts winner in literature and pine needle basket making. She was a graduate of Belhaven High School and of Raleigh School of Commerce. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Bruce Edward Tarkington Sr. of the home; a son, Dr. Bruce Edward Tarkington Jr. and his wife, Beth, of Cary; a daughter, Jennifer Lowe Tarkington Parnell of Gastonia; grandchildren Amy Owens and her husband, Brent, of Pineville, Patrice Dyckes and her husband, Jason, of Charlotte, Benjamin Edward Tarkington of Cary; and a great-grandchild, Parker Dyckes of Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel and at other times at the home.
