Marjorie Thomas Ward

Marjorie Thomas Ward, 81, of Fairfax Road, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at her home. No services will be held at this time, however, a service of remembrance will be at a later date. Mrs. Ward was born July 10, 1929, in Montgomery County, to Jasper Noah Thomas and Essie Elam Thomas. She was of the Baptist faith; diabetes survivor for 50 years; past President of American Diabetes Association of Davidson County; and state volunteer of the year in 1985 for the Diabetes foundation. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Vestal Ward Jr. Surviving are sons, Raymond Ward III and wife, Barbara, Edward Ward and wife, Kathy, all of Lexington, and Steven Hill and wife, Beverly, of Wilmington; daughter, Katherine Strader and husband, Dr. Kyle, of Raleigh; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
