Marklyn Dewayne Prater

Marklyn Dewayne Prater, 35, of Carolyn Lane, died Thursday, July 22, 2010, at his home. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Terri Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Prater Family Cemetery, War, W.Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mr. Prater was born April 21, 1975, in Mercer County, W.Va., to Berlyn Prater and Mary Elizabeth Tunnell Prater. He was a machine operator with Leggett and Platt. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Karla Bernice Prater of the home; a son, Marklyn Dewayne Prater Jr. of the home; daughters, Mary Kate Prater of the home and Kelsey Elizabeth Prater of Winston-Salem; a brother, Berlyn Prater of Bluefield, W.Va.; and a sister, Tammy Prater of Alexandria, Va. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
