Martha Embler

Martha Ann Whittington Michael Embler, 75, of Hege Drive, passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at High Point Regional Medical Center after a serious illness of three weeks. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hillside Park Baptist Church, Thomasville, where she was a member, by the Rev. Steve Chipps. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Embler was born Aug. 3, 1934, in Cabarrus County to Henry Carlton Whittington and Viola Patrea Whittington. She was a retired employee of Parkdale Mills. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Donald Michael, and also her second husband, Willie Van Embler. Surviving are three daughters, Donna Torrence and her husband, David, and Linda Green and her husband, Rick, all of Lexington, and Janice Baker of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Brent Green and his wife, Lynnette, Matthew Green and his wife, Jennifer, and Wendy Rumfelt and her husband, Heath; a great-grandchild, Frank Green; and two stepgrandchildren, Jamie Baker and David Baker. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel and other times at the home of the daughter, Linda Green, 205 Dover Road.
