Martha Frances Ward Leonard, 78, of East Holly Grove Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center after one year of declining health. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Holly Grove Lutheran Church, where she was a member, by Pastor John Mocko. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Leonard was born Nov. 8, 1928, in Davidson County to Ira David Ward and Maggie Conrad Ward. She was retired and a member of the Holly Grove Senior Citizens Group. Her son, Ira Dwain Milan, preceded her in death. Surviving are three daughters, Karen Vaughn of Winston-Salem, and Melita Bailey and her husband, Mark, and Jane Everhart, all of Lexington; a daughter-in-law, Jill Steele and her husband, John, of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Melanie Powell and her husband, Lee, LeAnn Pittman and her husband, David, Benjamen Parker, Angie Hartsfield and her husband, Bobby, Laura Tysinger and her husband, Shane, Kristin Leonard and her husband, John, Megan Everhart and Logan Bailey; four great-grandchildren, Ariel Hedrick, Madison Tysinger, Chase Pittman and Katelyn Powell; a brother, David L. Ward of Lexington; and a sister, Daisy Huffman of Lexington. She was also loved by her extended family and friends, especially her niece, Anita Ward. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials may be made to Davidson County Cancer Services, 25 W.
