Martha Hedrick Godwin

Martha Hedrick Godwin, age 91 of NC Highway 8, Southmont passed away Friday night December 28, 2018 at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 3, 2018 at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Tammy Talbert officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 in Spirit Hall prior to the service.

Martha was born January 17, 1927 in Davidson County to Curtis Harvey Hedrick and Helen Surratt Hedrick. She was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church where she served as the organist for 73 years, was a founding member of the visitation committee and member of the United Methodist Women. She was the retired Post Master for the United States Post Office in Southmont. She was preceded in death by her parents and three infant great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of 75 years, Allan C. Godwin of the home; son, Warren Godwin (Janet) of Trinity daughter, Susan Fritts (Bill) of Lexington; 4 grandchildren,  Curtis Godwin (Shannon), Shelley Kirby (Rodney), Jeremy Godwin and Erin Fritts; great-grandchildren, Luke Kirby, Rachel Kirby, Emma Godwin, Peyton Godwin, Aidan Godwin and Eva Godwin; brother, Tommy Hedrick (Betty) of Southmont.
