Martha Mcguire

July 5, 1929 — August 8, 2024

Martha “Granna” Lee Harris McGuire, 95, formerly of Markwood Lane, died Thursday, August 8 at Pine Acres Nursing Home.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Friday, August 16 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. McGuire was born July 5, 1929 in Guilford County to James Thomas Harris and Grace Elizabeth Lane.  She retired from teaching after many years at Sheets Memorial Christian School. Her husband, Dallas Dwight McGuire, her son, Dwight Sidney McGuire, and her son-in-law, Jerry Lee Hutchins, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Hutchens of Lexington; Elaine Ghabbour (Magdy) of Oxford, Michigan; and Angela Bolander (Tom) of Whitehall, Michigan; her daughter-in-law, Sonya McGuire of Lexington; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Her faith was visible! She passionately shared the story of Jesus’ love with those she encountered. She enjoyed hosting missionaries in her home and supporting the furtherance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved teaching children, and genuinely cared for everyone God brought into her life. We are all blessed to have called her, “Mother, Granna and friend.”

In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family would appreciate everyone sharing a written memory of Martha with them.
