Martha Byerly Miller

Martha Wilton Byerly Miller, 84, of Lexington, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at her home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel by the Rev. Kenneth Deal. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Miller was born in Davidson County on April 13, 1924, to Elmer Byerly and Claudia Beck Byerly. She was a former employee of Heckman Furniture. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers James Byerly and Robert Byerly, sisters Shirley Rood, Ann Kirkus and Priscilla Lane Byerly, and grandchildren Rodney Marc Snider and Linda James. Surviving are her husband, Dennis Miller of the home; a daughter, Libby Snider and special friend Ronnie Regan of Lexington; a son, Jerry James and his wife, Lorie, of Lexington; grandchildren Jerry James Jr., Jeff James, Roy James and Jake James; stepgrandchildren Tyler and Tori Grooms; a brother, Donald "Jack" Byerly and his wife, Mary, of Lexington; and sisters Mary Driver, Betty Scott and her husband, Ray, and Helen Kirkus, all of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel and at other times at the home. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Piedmont, especially Cindy and Betsy, for the love and concern shown to Martha during this time.
