Mrs. Martha Sarah Bates Moore, 96, of E. 9th Street Ext, died Friday, November 25, 2016 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 4pm Monday, November 28 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Josh Sheffield. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 pm Monday prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Moore was born March 16, 1920 in Davidson County to Riley Edward Bates and Bessie Ree Everhart Bates. She was a homemaker and a member of Clearview Baptist Church. Her husband, Clyde Wyatt Moore, her daughter, Sylvia Ann Moore, her brothers, Brantley Bates, Charlie Bates, Riley Bates ,Jr., Baxter Bates, and Tommy Bates, and her sister, Frances Tetter, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Monk and husband, Wayne, and Martha Floyd and husband, Farrell, both of Lexngton; Dale Solek and husband, John of Indianapolis, IN, and Kathy Conner and husband, Horace, Jr, of Lexington; her son, James “Buddy” Moore of Birmingham, AL; her sister, Betty Tussey of Lexington; her brother, Donald Bates and wife, Peggy, of Lexington; twelve grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and nine great great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
