Martha Louise Thomas, age 85 of Lexington passed away Saturday morning at Hinkle Hospice House.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, where she was a member with Rev. Kelly Groce and Dr. Lee Zehmer officiating. Burial will be at Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
Martha was born April 20, 1928 to Dennie B. and Ruth Radford Launius. She delivered Meals On Wheels; on the Advisory Board of Stoner-Thomas School and was on the committee to build the UMAR home for special needs women. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bernard H. Thomas in 1993; brother, John Launius.
Martha is survived by her daughters; Margaret King of Lexington, Sally Michaelson (Steve Tambornini)of Murfreesboro, TN and Ruth Thomas of Lexington; son, Radford Thomas (Gina) of Lenoir; 4 grandchildren, Natalie K. Gerstenbacher, Tyler Thomas, Dennie Thomas and Jillian Michaelson; one great-grandchild, Cassidy Sweet; sister, Eugenia L. Clark of Augusta, GA.
