Martha Jo Woody

December 22, 1946 — August 29, 2025

Martha Jo Woody, 78, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, in Winston-Salem.

There are no formal services at this time.

Jo was born on December 22, 1946, in Davidson County, to the late Clyde William Shillinglaw and Anita Beck Shillinglaw.

She is remembered for her caring nature and how she expressed her love by nurturing those around her. Not only were her friends, family, and precious feline Pandora shown the dedication she possessed but so did her flower beds. The blooms that blossomed from her meticulous work were the product of her tender hand that cultivated the soil as she also did with her family.

Jo found great joy in dancing, especially Shag, which is how she met her husband, Don. They spent years dancing together through life and on the dance floor to the music of the oldies. Her happiness went beyond just the music itself as she was an avid beach goer. The sound of the surf, and the feeling of the sand beneath her feet brought her bliss.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her memory lives on through her loving husband of 29 years, Don Woody, of the home; daughter, Courtney Fritts (Sam), of Lexington; son, Mark Siceloff, of Winston-Salem; stepdaughter, Tracy Purdie, of Greensboro; stepson, Don Woody Jr. (Patty), of Wrightsville Beach; brothers, Keith Shillinglaw, of Lexington, and Richard Shillinglaw, of Raleigh; sisters, Becky Lou Stiller, of Fl. And Cynthia Lehman (James), of Washington State; and grandchildren. Will and Gracie Fritts, Jace Siceloff, and Kameryn, Taylor, and Wesley Purdie.
