Martha Allred Yokley

Martha Faye Allred Yokley passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 after an extended illness. Martha was born on March 1, 1943 in Yancey County, NC. She was born into the Methodist faith as the daughter of the late Rev. James G. Allred and Evelyn Williams Allred of Richfield, NC. Mrs. Yokley attended Louisburg College and then graduated from Pfeiffer University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Yokley dutifully served in the teaching profession as an elementary teacher for the North Carolina Public School System in both the Greensboro and Asheville areas for over 20 years. Mrs. Yokley enjoyed spending time in the NC mountains. Surviving is her husband Raymond Ross Yokley of Lexington, NC; two daughters, Elizabeth Brent Yokley Tuck of Clarkesville, GA and Jennifer Allison Yokley Hartman of Lexington, NC. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Ellen Hartman of Lexington, NC and Ashton Tuck and Peyton Tuck of Clarkesville, GA. Mrs. Yokley is also survived by her five siblings, Annette Steed of Seymour, TN, James Allred, Jr. of Richfield, NC, John Allred of Archdale, NC, Doris Hatley of Albemarle, NC and David Allred of Monroe, NC. Family members will honor Mrs. Yokley’s memory in a private memorial service. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
