Marty Young

Martin "Marty" Edward Young, born on September 8, 1963, passed away peacefully at his home on Weaver Drive in Lexington, NC, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Marty was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose generous spirit and kind heart touched everyone he met.

Marty's life was defined by his love for his family, his unwavering loyalty to friends, and his ability to brighten any room with his smile. He enjoyed the pleasures in life and enjoyed sharing time with those he loved. Whether it was cooking a meal, offering a helping hand, or sharing a story, Marty's presence brought comfort and a heartfelt laugh to all who knew him.

Marty graduated from Lexington Senior High School and attended Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC. He was an accomplished golfer and enjoyed skiing, fishing, and all sports, especially football.

Marty is survived by his mother, Edna Ellen Morris; his sister, Ellen Young of Greensboro, NC, and his nephew, Hunter Young of Wilmington, NC.  His memory will be cherished by his brothers; Jeff Young and his family of Lexington, NC, and Brian Young and his family living in Japan and Virginia. Marty is preceded in death by his brother, Alan Morris, his father, Martin S. Young, and his step-father, Calvin S. Morris.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will remain alive in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church Sunday, December 29, where loved ones can gather to celebrate Marty's life and the happy memories with so many. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First UMC or Donor's choice in Marty's honor.
