Marvin Thornton Kearns Sr., 72, of Lexington, passed away September 10, 2022 at his home in Lexington. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Orman officiating. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 pm before the service, and other times at the home. Mr. Kearns was born October 12, 1949, in Davidson County, to Gurney Lawrence Kearns and Dorothy Whitaker Kearns. Marvin was a veteran having served in the US Marines. He was retired from Atrium Windows and Doors, Marvin loved to play and coach softball, playing golf with his buddies, going to the beach and deep sea fishing. He also loved to spend time in his garden. His passion was his family and especially his grandchildren, spending time drinking coffee with his granddaughter on the porch chattering. Marvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Conner David Freedle, brothers, G.L. Kearns, David Kearns, Bryce Kearns, Henry Kearns, Larry Kearns, his sisters, Ina Smith, Dare Black, Clara Walton, Pattie Marlow, Maxine Hill, and Vickie Rhodes. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 46 years, Katie Sholtz Kearns of the home, son, Marvin Thornton Jr., and daughter, Amanda Kearns Freedle and husband David, all of Lexington. Also surviving are the love of his life his three granddaughters, Ashley Freedle Hammer and husband Derek Hammer Jr., Aubree Kearns, and Alivia Kearns.
