Marvin Phillip Poole Sr., 77, of Queen Road, died Thursday, January 31, 2013, at his home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Oakdale Baptist Church, with the Rev. Richard Gross officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
Mr. Poole was born June 12, 1935, in Mecklenburg County, to Jesse Franklin Poole and Ella Shaffer Poole. He was retired supervisor from North Carolina Finishing Company. Mr. Poole served in the U.S. Army, was a member of Spencer Moose Lodge and American Legion Post 0179. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Harry, Robert, J.C. and Richard Poole.
Surviving are his loving wife, Joyce Smith Poole of the home; sons, Phil Poole of Linwood, Chris Poole and wife Laura and Brent Poole, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Kazie, Andrea, and Brianna Poole; great-granddaughter, Ava Poole; brothers, Joe Poole, Junior Poole, both of Linwood and George Patton Poole of China Grove; and sisters, Barbara Poole, Margaret Marshall and husband Jack, all of Kernersville, Evelyn Finney of Welcome, and Linda McCrary of Linwood.
