Mary Alice Wilson Tysinger

February 9, 1932 — December 28, 2016

Mary Alice Wilson Tysinger passed away December 28, 2016 in Charlotte, NC. Mary Alice was born in Thomasville, NC to Samuel Spurgeon Wilson and Mittie Inez Hughes Wilson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her half-sister Louise Kirby Webb, half-brother Lloyd “Bear” Kirby, and by her loving husband, Joe “Buck” Tysinger, Jr., who died September 8, 2001.   Mary Alice is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary Gwendolyn Charles of Charlotte, her son, Joe H Charles Jr., his wife, Karen, and three grandchildren, Kenneth Samuel Charles, Mary Elizabeth (Maribeth) Charles, and Joe (Jay) H. Charles III, all of Charlotte.  Also surviving Mary Alice is her nephew, Howard Webb, Jr. of Charlotte.   Mary Alice was a graduate of the 1950 Class of Lexington Senior High School.  After high school, she attended Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC.  Mary Alice retired from Buena Vista Nursing Center after spending over 44 years in the nursing profession.  Mary Alice was also a member of First Baptist Church, Lexington, NC, where she was active in The Good News Sunday School Class.  She was a caring and compassionate soul who loved her family, friends, and her wonderful cat Nosey.  Mary Alice loved to walk, socialize, and tend to plants and flowers.  She was born with a huge heart and a green thumb.    A graveside funeral service, officiated by Dr. Ray Howell, will be held at 2:00PM, December 31 at the Lexington City Cemetery near the intersection of Fourth & State Streets.  A visitation will be held after the funeral in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church, 201 West 3rd Avenue.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Charlotte, to Summit Place Assisted Living and their staff, and to her wonderful friends of the Church.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 436, Lexington, NC  27292.   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
