Mary Allen

Mary Everhart Allen, 81, of East Holly Grove Road, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011, at High Point Regional Medical Center. Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ by the Rev. Darrell Sluder. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor UCC Cemetery. Mrs. Allen will lie in state from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the service. Mary was born in Davidson County on Sept. 28, 1929, to Archie Lee Everhart and Margaret Everhart Everhart. She was a retired employee of Manhattan Shirt Co. and a member of Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ and the Adult Sunday School Class. She was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 3074 Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Joel Keith Allen; and a brother, Ray Garland Everhart. Surviving is her husband of 62 years, George Lee Allen of the home. Memorials may be directed to Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ, Cemetery Fund, 1002 East Holly Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
