Mary Atkins Smith

Mary Atkins Smith, 99, of Brookstone Retirement Center, formerly of Wenco Drive, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Daugherty officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Mrs. Smith was born April 29, 1914, in Davidson County, to Jesse Franklin Atkins and Sarah Lou Sink Atkins. She was a member of Lexington Church of God. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Zeb D. Smith, who died July 27, 1966; brothers, Lindsay Atkins, Roby Atkins, and Henry Atkins; and sisters, Lillie Gourley, Mamie Elliott, Mildred Potts and Ruby Atkins. Surviving are many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
