Mary Beck

Mrs. Mary Shipton Beck, 88, of Hill Everhart Road, died Wednesday, December 16 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 3pm Saturday, December 18 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by Brock Shanks and livestreamed at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome Burial will follow in Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Beck was born August 22, 1932 in Davidson County to George and Bertha Owens Shipton. She was a member of Lexington Church of Christ. Her husband, James Walter “J.W.” Beck, her son, James Thomas “Tommy” Beck, her brother, Julius Shipton, and her sisters, Bessie Mae Stanley and Rosie Hoffman, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann Beck Verdell of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Kendrah Verdell, Donnie Verdell Jr., and Yolanda Baldwin; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
