Mary Belle Berrier Smith

Mary Belle Berrier Smith, 87, of Alston Brook Nursing Home, died Thursday at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Linwood United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Cynthia Arnold. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born in Davidson County on August 17, 1919, to Samuel A. Sharpe and Mary Jane Penninger Sharpe. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Voit Berrier on July 22, 1962, and her second husband, Chester “Jack” Smith on June 13, 1985. Surviving are sons, Donald H. Berrier and wife, Emily, of Badin Lake and Lindsay Paul Berrier and wife, Virginia of Asheville; sisters, Jane Swink and Esther Michael, both of Lexington; grandchildren, Jonathan Berrier and wife, Mary, Amy McKinney and husband, Eric, David Lee Berrier and wife, Angela, Chris Berrier, Alejandra Berrier; one step-grandchild, Adriana Moore and husband, Kipley; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home.
