Mary Reid Snyder Black, 77, of White Street, Lexington passed away Thursday morning April 5, 2012, at her home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Darrell Sluder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
Mrs. Black was born October 2, 1934, in Davidson County, to James Danie Snyder and Maggie Ilene Everhart Snyder. She was retired from PPG Industries and past President and member of the American Legion Post 8 Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 3074 Ladies Auxiliary, and AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her loving husband, Lawrence Black of the home; a son, Lawrence “Larry” Black, Jr. and wife, Anderson, of Raleigh; daughters, Theresa Wicker of Mamers and Monica Welborn and husband, Henry, of Cary; five grandchildren, Ashley Wicker, Nicholas Wicker, Heather Wicker, Lauren Black and Hannah Welborn; great-grandson, Grayson Wicker; brother, Wayne Snyder and wife, Linda, of Lake Norman; and sisters, Hilda Kiger and husband, A.G., and Evelyn Essick, both of Welcome.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor UCC, New Building Fund or Youth Group, 1002 East Holly Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
