Mary Clodfelter

Mary Hayes Clodfelter, 87, of Greensboro Street Extension, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2007. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim Reformed United Church of Christ by the Revs. George Fidler and Rosser Clapp. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Clodfelter was born Aug. 17, 1919, in Davidson County to Ed Hayes and Betty Everhart Hayes. She retired from the Davidson County Schools and was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer Hayes and Paul Hayes, and three sisters, Lucille Tuttle, Mildred Smith and Gladys Rowe. Surviving are her husband, Clarence R. Clodfelter of the home; four sons, Donald Reid Clodfelter and Max Ray Clodfelter, both of the home, and Boyd Hayes Clodfelter and his wife, Julia, and Paul Edward Clodfelter and his wife, Lynne, all of Lexington; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim United Church of Christ Building Fund, 797 Pilgrim Church Road, Lexington, NC 27295. Mrs. Clodfelter spent a short time at Lexington Health Care and Sunbridge of Lexington, both of which are well-managed and well-staffed facilities.
