Mary Della Burcham Cook, 81, of West Center Street Extension, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Health — Lexington Medical Center after several months of declining health.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Guilford Memorial Park by the Rev. Clyde Akers. Burial will follow.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service at Davidson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cook was born July 24, 1932, in Carroll County, Va., to Elmer Rufus Burcham and Ella Mae Thompson Burcham. She was a retired employee of Harris & Covington Knitting Plant and was of the Baptist faith. Preceding her in death were her husband, Emory Tasville Hylton, March 7, 1994; daughter Beth Land; and two brothers, Roy Burcham and Coy Burcham.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Bingham (Bobby Sr.) of Sophia and Robin Epley (Charles) of Lexington; three brothers, Oneal Fayne and James Fayne, both of Thomasville, and Burlen Fayne of Colorado; two sisters, Mozell Wonderly of Thomasville and Laura Frances Cox of Galax, Va.; two half brothers, Bobby Hawkins of Trinity and Cecil Hawkins of Galax, Va.; two half sisters, Mary Ellen Roberts and Barbara Wright, both of Galax, Va.; five grandchildren, Bobby Bingham Jr., Janet Christian, Misty Nelson, Kelly Land and Ashley Teague; and two great-grandchildren.
