Mary Holder Cumbee

Mary Ruth Holder Cumbee, age 90 of Alston Brook Nursing Home a former resident of Panama City Florida for 50 years, passed away Monday January 4, 2021 at Alston Brook.

A graveside service will be held in Pensacola, Florida at a later date.

Mary Ruth was born in Moore County, TN to Clarence Buford Holder and Effie Reavis Holder. She was the retired Chief of Material Acounting and Finance with Tyndall Air Force Base near Panama City, Florida. She loved to sew, embroider, knit and crochet. Loved to use her computer to play games and do all types of research, enjoyed cooking classes and going on trips to see new places. She was an active member of her church Jenks Avenue Church of Christ in Panama City, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert Hugh Cumbee, Sr., a son, Albert Hugh Cumbee, Jr. a brother, Edgar Holder; and sisters Leta Searcy and infant, Frances Holder.

Surviving are her daughter, Gail Barnhardt (John) of Lexington; grandchildren, Ryan Barnhardt (Amanda), Cole Barnhardt, Brian Cumbee (Brea) and Randy Cumbee; great-grandchildren, Brody and Jayde Barnhardt and Logan Sinkovich; daughter-in-law, Laura Bos Cumbee of Destin, FL, a brother, Charles Holder, Tullahoma, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Jenks Avenue Church of Christ, 3332 Jenks Avenue, Panama City, FL 32405 or to donor’s charity of choice.
