Mary Lou Dehart Day

Mary Lou DeHart Day, 95, of Davidson County, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 7:00 PM, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with Hoyt Mason officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Burial will be at a later date at Red Marble Baptist Church in Andrews, NC.

Mary was born on July 2, 1928, in Macon County, to the late George Harrison Mason and Ola Haney Mason. She spent much of her life as a wife and homemaker. Mary was known for loving to play her guitar and singing at home and in church. She also wrote many songs, mostly gospel. Mary will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and friend.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Loyal Eli DeHart and Doyle Day; four brothers, Eugene, Charles, Cecil, and Howard; and four sisters, , Olene, Barbara, Helen, and Dellamae.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bruce DeHart (Ruth Ann), Wanda Holmes, David DeHart, Michael DeHart, Harriet Williams, Everett DeHart, and Vernon DeHart (Stephanie); one brother, Jack; four sisters, Naomi, Bess, Ann, and Gertrude; nine grandchildren; and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
