Mary Eleanor Gray, 77, of Myers Park Drive, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at High Point Regional Hospital.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church by Dr. Lee Zehmer. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Gray was born Sept. 15, 1928, in Davidson County to Mary Reed Buchanan Gray and Clayton C. Gray Sr. She was the granddaughter of Dr. E.J. Buchanan, a pioneer of Lexington who was a builder, manufacturer and surgeon. She was a 1947 graduate of Lexington High School and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she majored in art. She taught in the Lexington City Schools for 32 years and retired in 1982. She became a landscape designer and continued her commercial art through painting and ceramics. She was an active member of the Lexington Garden Makers Club and the Lexington Garden Club Council. She also served on the Lexington Appearance Commission. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Clayton C. Gray Jr., who died in 1968.
Surviving are two nephews, Corky and Dillon Gray, and one grandniece, Jennifer Eleanor Gray.
