Mary Holbrooks Smith

Mary Holbrooks Smith, 76, of Happy Hill Rd, Lexington passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014 at her home after one year of declining health. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at Leonard Road Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Hepler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mrs. Smith was born June 8, 1938 in Davie County to Archie Clay Holbrooks and Bonnie Poplin Holbrooks. She was a homemaker and a member of Leonard Road Baptist Church. Preceding her in death was her parents, her husband, Leroy Smith, Sr. on January 18, 2000, and two sisters, Marie Long and Virginia Combs. Surviving are three sons, J.R. Smith (Angel) of Lexington; Larry Dale Smith of Lexington, Steve Goodin of Lexington; four daughters, Rebecca Walker, Lynn Smith, Cynthia Lee Smith, Wanda Knote (Von) all of Lexington; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; two brothers, John Holbrooks (Pearl) of Lexington, Roger Pinnix (Pam) of Spencer and a sister, Eula Holman of Lexington. Memorials may be directed to Leonard Road Baptist Church, 1815 Leonard Road, Lexington, NC 27295 The family would like to extend their thanks to Hospice of Davidson County.
