Mary Jane Zimmerman Ferris

Mary Jane Zimmerman Ferris, age 85 of Old Mill Farm Road, Lexington passed away Thursday night at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday (9-14-2008) at Good Hope United Methodist Church, with Rev. Chris Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Ferris was born in Davidson County, April 22, 1923 to W.E. Zimmerman and Annie Mock Zimmerman. She was a former employee of R.J. Reynolds and retired as a sales lady with Ideal Clothing. A member of Good Hope United Methodist Church and the Senior Friends of the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray Brown Ferris, who died in 1991, a daughter in law, Joanie Ferris in 2006, a sister Georgia Zimmerman, brother-in-law Joe Stone. Surviving are: two sons; Barry Ray Ferris of Lexington and Chuck Ryan Ferris of Clemmons, two grandchildren; Tina Turbyfill and husband Steve and Michael Shumate and wife Mandy, two great-grandchildren; Krislyn and Owen Turbyfill, two sisters; Blanche Z. Stone and Becky Z. Snyder and husband Charles all of Winston Salem. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel from 6 until 8 pm Saturday and at other times at the home.
