Mary Jewell "Bonnie" Hodges Lackey

Beautiful Mary Jewell (Bonnie) Hodges Lackey, 81, of Lexington, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and first lady of Wayside Baptist Tabernacle  went home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully with her family by her side, March 30, 2023, at her home.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm Monday April 3, 2023, at Wayside Baptist Tabernacle  where she was a Devoted member and Pastors wife conducted by Revs. Joe Marler and Daniel Lackey. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at the church prior to the service, and burial will follow in the Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bonnie was born June 13, 1941, in Jacksonville Fla, to Emril C. Hodges and Ivy Jewell Young Hodnett. Her passion was her faith, church, family especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who will be missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Roger Wilford Lackey Sr., who died January 9, 2013.

Left to cherish her memories are her son, Roger Wilford Lackey Jr. and wife Robin, daughters, Susan Ward and husband, Jerry, Joy Huffman and husband Damon, Cheryl Davis and husband Earnest all of Lexington, Her grandchildren, Calum Ward, Colton Ward, Ellen Nifong, Samantha Lackey, Sabastian Hewett, Joshua Hewett, McKenzie Huffman, and Isaac Huffman, Jayce Huffman; brothers, Bobby Hodges and wife Betsy of Lake James, Clifford Hodges and wife Beckie of Martinsville, VA, sister, Jennifer Hollandsworth and husband Phillip of Rual Hall, NC.
