Mary A. Koontz, 93, of South N.C. Highway 150, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at her home following a serious illness of one week.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member, by the Rev. Howard Baker. Burial will follow in Sandy Creek Cemetery.
Miss Koontz was born October 23, 1915, in Davidson County, to Charles Franklin Koontz and Clara Lennie Shoaf Koontz. She was a retired inspector at Cannon Mills and was very active in her church as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clinton F. Koontz; and a sister, Lorena K. Williams.
Surviving are a brother, Elbert Koontz of Lexington; a sister, Christine Swicegood and husband, Carson, of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church fellowship hall.
