Mary Pauline Knoodle Leonard, 87, of Brookstone Retirement Center, formerly of Burkhart Road, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at Brookstone after declining health. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Jim Thompson. Mrs. Leonard was born in Alamance County on Sept. 9, 1919, to Jasper Knoodle and Jeannie Simpson Knoodle. She was retired from Link-Taylor and was a member of Beck's Reformed Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Leonard Sr.; her brother, Homer Knoodle; and a granddaughter, Mary Ruth Watkins, who died in 1974. Surviving are one son, Alvin "Pete" Leonard Jr. and his wife, Mildred, of Lexington; one daughter, Jean Epley of Lexington; four grandchildren, Gregory Leonard and his wife, Tina, Ricky Watkins and his friend, Toya, Kathy Watkins Hunt and her husband Randy, and Lynn Watkins Dickerson and her husband, Doug; four great-grandchildren, Joseph Watkins, Felicia Watkins, Patricia Bartlett and her husband, Eric, and Amber Leonard; and two sisters, Annie Squires of Danville, Va., and Wilma Clemons of Burlington. The family will receive friends at the home of the son at 1840 Burkhart Road, Lexington Memorials may be directed to Brookstone Nursing Home Activity Fund, 2968 Old Salisbury Road, Lexington, NC 27292 or to Hospice of Davidson County P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293.
