  Mary Lillian Perryman Hunter of Midway, North Carolina passed away on the morning of September 30, 2017, at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was 101 years old.   A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 7, 2017 at Midway United Methodist Church, 9795 Old Highway 52 South, Lexington, North Carolina 27295. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Davidson Funeral Home, 858 Hickory Tree Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.   Mary was born on May 10, 1916, in Davidson County, North Carolina to John Elmer Perryman and Nova Wagner Perryman. In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by her husband, A. Frank Hunter; her two brothers, Edwin Perryman and Linley Perryman. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert Stegall.   Mary was a lifetime member of Midway United Methodist Church, where she was involved in various actives. She used to laugh and say she had done everything in the church except preach. She enjoyed being a member of the United Methodist Women and the Midway Sunshine Club. She was a volunteer at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem from 1972-2016 retiring on her 100th birthday; was a graduate of Midway High School.  . Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, planting her garden, watching college basketball and baseball, reading, working crossword puzzles, sitting in her outdoor “parlor”, eating chocolate, and drinking lots of coffee.   Mary is survived by her daughter, Patsy Hunter Stegall of Charlottesville, Virginia; her grandson, Hunter Stegall of Durham, North Carolina; her granddaughter Amy Stegall Young and husband Dale Young of Crozet, Virginia, her great-grandson, Sutton Young and her great grand-daughter, Abby Young. Also surviving are her sisters in-law, Hilda Perryman and Becky Hunter, along with her nieces and nephews.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway United Methodist Church, 9795 Old Highway 52 South, Lexington, North Carolina, 27295.   The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge for the exceptional, loving care she received while residing there. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
