Mary Bernice Raker Little

Mary Bernice Raker Little, 87, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013, in Raleigh. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, September 26, at Davidson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Max Shoaf officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Mrs. Little was born April 13, 1926, in Davidson County, to John F. Raker Sr. and Bernice Ward Raker. She grew up in Lexington and attended Catawba College. She was a lifelong member of First Reformed United Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, June C. Little. Surviving are her four children, Carolyn Spivey (Carroll) of Lexington, Lena Johnson (Rich) of Salisbury, Julia Wiggs of Garner and Jeff Grimes of Lexington; step-son, John Robert Little of Linwood; five grandchildren, Robert Johnson (Emily) of Forest, Va., Thomas Johnson (Sauni) of Lexington, Laura Wiggs (TJ) of Menlo Park, CA., Ann Crandell (Michael) of Fayetteville, and Katie Kuhns (Kris) of Raleigh; and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
