Mary Lou Leonard

Mary Lou Leonard Leonard, age 91, of North Leonard Road, died Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Springwood Care Center in Winston Salem. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Center United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Pillsbury officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Leonard was born April 29, 1917 in Davidson County to Homer Leonard and Nellie Bates. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, Allen Herman “Bud” Leonard; her grandson, Derek Fox; as well as her brothers and sisters; John Leonard, Coy Leonard, Homer Ray Leonard, Lee Leonard, Blake Leonard, Sadie Leonard, and Edna Twyne. Surviving are her son, Tex Leonard and wife, Anne, of Pfafftown; her daughters, Brenda Doub and husband, Bobby, of Pfafftown, and Toby Fox and husband, Bob, of Welcome; her brothers, J.W. Leonard and Joe Leonard, both of Welcome; her sisters, Alta Merritt of Welcome and Naomi Allgood of Winston Salem; her grandchildren; Len Fox, Kyle Fox, Kevin Doub, and Chris Doub; and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to be made to The Building Fund at Center United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 179, Welcome, NC 27374 Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
