Mary Louise Rollins

Mary Louise Green Rollins, 86, of North Salem Street, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Reformed United Church of Christ by the Rev. Dr. Walter Patten. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. Mrs. Rollins was born in Davidson County on May 17, 1923, to Harvey Clayton Green and Mary Andrew Green and was the granddaughter of the late Rev. Dr. James D. Andrew, DDS. She graduated from Lexington High School and attended Catawba College. Early in life she worked for the Davidson County Department of Social Services and later in life worked in admissions at Lexington Memorial Hospital before retiring from the Davidson County Planning Department. Her special joys in life were her pet parrot, "Jack," and baking cakes and other desserts to share. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lt. Col. (ret.) Louis "Ike" Green. Surviving are two sons, David Cline Rollins of the home and John Andrew Rollins and his wife, Kathy, of Greenville; a sister-in-law, Vicky Green of Lexington; and a niece, Marsha FitzGerald of Bridgewater, Va. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Reformed United Church of Christ parlor prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or First Reformed United Church of Christ, 104 E. Center St., Lexington, NC 27292. Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is handling the arrangements.
