Mary Sue Martin

March 19, 1943 — January 25, 2023

Mary Sue Doss Martin 79 passed away Wednesday January 25, 2023 at Woltz Hospice Home , Dobson, NC. A funeral service will be 3:00pm Sunday January 29, 2023, at Center Church where she was a member, conducted by Pastor Mitch Wilson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 2-3 pm prior to the service in the CFC at the church.

Mrs. Martin was born March 19, 1943, in Davidson County to the late James Emmett Doss and Lois Inez Craver Doss. Her husband, James Terry Martin preceded her in death. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved children and this love of children led to her career as a teacher’s assistant at Welcome Elementary School for more than 20 years. She adored her students and made an impact on so many lives. She retired from teaching in 2000 to stay home with her grandchildren showering them with love and happy memories. She loved cooking Sunday lunch for her family and enjoyed spending time with her friends and had a true gift for caring for others.

Surviving are her daughters, Terena O’Dell (Mark) of Winston Salem and Julie Fountain (Jamie) of Welcome. Sons: Lance Martin (Linda) of Lexington and Jason Martin of Welcome. Grandchildren: Philip Martin (Brittany), James Oxendine (Kaylie), Nichole Howell (Lonnie), Jennifer Caldwell (Bryan), Danielle  Diluzio (Chris), Matthew Reese, Austin Fountain, Katherine Fountain and Chase Fountain. Also surviving are several great grandchildren. Brothers: Steve Doss (Helen) of Clemmons and Doug Doss (Angie) of Lexington. A sister-in-law, Vicki Sink and brothers-in-law, Steve Martin and  Randall Tesh (Cheryl)  and  many nephews and nieces.

Memorials may be made to Center Church of Welcome.
