A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Pastor David Robinson officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 noon. Burial will immediately follow the service at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mary was born on June 19, 1938 in Mountain City, TN to the late Landrine Jackson Robinson and Lona Blanche Lipford Robinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Conway Morris; son, Keith Murphy; daughters, Deanna Murphy and Lori Murphy Nazemetz; brothers, Claude Robinson, Loyd Robinson, Benjamin Robinson, and Henry Robinson, and sisters, Nellie Marie Leonard, Opal Reese, Sarah Viola Leonard, and a sister that passed away as an infant.
Mary spent her career as a teacher assistant and bus driver for Davidson County Schools for over 30 years. She truly had a passion for teaching and caring for children. She devoted her entire career to working with special needs children. They had a tremendous impact on her life and even after retirement, she could recall fond stories and memories of those she worked with. She devoted much of her time to volunteering at the Davidson County Children’s Center and the Davidson County Special Olympics, where she loved to support her son, Carlton. In her free time, she loved spending time outside gardening. Most of all, she dearly loved and cherished spending time with her family and especially held her grandchildren close to her heart.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carla Morris; son, Carlton Morris II; son-in-law, Ken Nazemetz; sister, Glenda Johnson; grandchildren, Cannon Nazemetz, Zade Nazemetz and Jagger Nazemetz; and numerous extended family who will all miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Workshop of Davidson, PO Box 906, 275 Monroe Road, Lexington, NC 27292 or to the Davidson County Special Olympics, 555-D W Center Street Extension Lexington, NC 27295.
