Mary Hill Murph

Mary Ester Hill Murph, 94, went home to be with her Lord on April 16, 2023. Mary was born in Forsyth County on June 14, 1928, to the late Robert Paul and Nova Thompson Hill. She worked for Frank IX & Sons, where she was an inspector for 48 years. On January 2, 1947, she married Roy Gilbert Murph and they were fortunate to spend 56 years together.

Mary loved many things; her favorites were dogs (specifically chihuahuas), NASCAR, the color pink, gospel music, and the sound of a banjo.  Mary was a member of Christ United Church of Christ for over 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her daughter, Brenda Smith; two brothers, Robert “Bob” and Elmer Hill; and granddaughter Susan Harrison.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM in the Lexington City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Christ United Church of Christ, 4 Price Road, Lexington, NC 27292.

Left to cherish her memory are her granddaughters, Sharon Hinesley (Scott) of Charlotte and Lorraine Emory of Columbia, SC; great-grandchildren, Will and Ben Hinesley, and Brock (Lexie), Luke, Alex, and Sam Emory; great-great-grandchildren Harper and Anna Emory; and many nieces and nephews.
