Mary Elizabeth Waddell Pardue, 71, of Quail Hill Drive, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carlton Waddell officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, Roaring River.
Mrs. Pardue was born October 20, 1938, in Wilkes County, to William Grant Waddell and Bessie Jane Poplin Waddell. She was a cashier at Lanier Hardware and a member of White Plains Baptist Church. Mary loved her flowers, sewing, cooking and butterflies, but most of all she loved her family, both her extended work family as well as her immediate family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Jean Waddell Benge Morris.
Surviving are her dear companion of 26 years, Al Pray; daughter, Lynn Bowers and husband, Craig, of Lexington; sons, Tracy Pardue and wife, Katherine, of Salisbury, and Chris Pardue of Lexington; grandsons, ET2 Jason Lazore U.S. Navy and wife, Roxann, of Virginia and Matthew Pardue of Salisbury; step-grandchildren, Wesley Bost, Jason Bost, Patrick Bost, and Cassidy Garwood; great-grandchildren, Cassandra Lawrence, Nina Nieto-Reyes and Robyn Nieto-Reyes; brothers, William Burton Waddell and wife, Carol, of South Carolina and Rev. James Carlton Waddell and wife, Carol, of North Wilkesboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2009, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
