As she ascended through the gates of Heaven, Mary Pearl Winebarger Roach, 66, of Lexington, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 27, 2008.
The service will be conducted at Maranatha Baptist Tabernacle by Rev. Thomas Todd Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Mary will be laid to rest following the service in the church cemetery.
Mary “button-nose” was born November 12, 1940 in Todd, NC to the loving parents William Roby and Mary Addaline Winebarger. Mary was one of fourteen siblings and her home life was surrounded by unconditional love and companionship. Mary moved to Lexington in 1959 where she met, fell in love with and married George “Buddy” Adam Roach Jr. on December 23, 1960. Lexington became her home. Mary was blessed with two wonderful sons. Watching her boys grow up, she instilled into them her Christian faith and the importance of Salvation. With the marriages of her sons, Mary was blessed with five grandchildren and eventually two great grandchildren. Mary was a faithful member of Maranatha Baptist Tabernacle for many, many years.
Mary was employed by Edgewood Apparel for 27 years followed by 5 years at Lexington Furniture, plant 4. Mary’s hobbies include quilting, gardening and canning. Mary loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and showered these blessings with her family and friends.
Mary is survived by Buddy Roach, her loving husband of 47 years, Martin “Marty” Roach, wife Judy; and Darrin Roach, wife Lori. Her grandchildren include Wendy Tolly and husband Billy of Kernersville, NC; Nathan Burleson, of Burlington, NC; Misty Roach, Adam Roach, and Morgan Roach all from Lexington. Her great grandchildren include Alisha and Timothy Tolley, both from Kernersville, NC. Her siblings include Mae Baity of Moravin Falls, NC; Betty Todd, husband Thomas of Lexington, James “Bud” Winebarger, wife Wanda of Statesville, NC; Gladys “Sis” Bryant of Harmony, NC; and Max Winebarger, wife Nancy of Lexington.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roby Winebarger, siblings Annie Virginia Winebarger, Clifford “Broth” Author Winebarger, Evans Blaine Winebarger, Margaret Louise Greer, Eben Hagman “Bill” Winebarger, Martha Carolyn Winebarger, William Aaron Winebarger and Roger “Rog” Cleadford Winebarger.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm. Family will receive friends at the home located on Burkhart Road at other times.
