Mary Etta was born on February 16, 1950, to Grey Spencer Potts and Gussie Pressley Potts. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at just nine months old, she was a fighter and an overcomer throughout her life, inspiring all who knew her with her strength and resilience. She retired from the Davidson County Register of Deeds after 30 years of dedicated service. Known for her thoughtfulness, Mary Etta had a gift for making everyone feel special, often through her thoughtful card-sending. She loved to travel, cross stitch, and put puzzles together, bringing joy and creativity into every aspect of her life. Children at Reeds United Methodist Church fondly remember her for always sharing Juicy Fruit gum and a kind smile.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 24 years, Randy Dale Prevette; her sister, Shirley Davis; her brother, Gilmer Potts; her brother-in-law, John Flynn; and her nephews, Michael Potts and Kelvin Presnell.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving sister, Patsy Flynn; her sister-in-law, Brenda Potts; her nephews, Dale Potts and Chris Potts; her nieces, Karmen Flynn (Andrew) and Heather Flynn; her great-nephews, Matthew Darr, Grayson Potts, Rylan Potts, and Billy Presnell; and her great-nieces, Jaydin, Zoey, Macie, Emma, and Madison. She also leaves behind special cousins Sharon and Jerry Leonard, Fonda and Toni Michael, Kathy and Danny Snider, Brenda Smith, and Tony and Donna Miller, as well as dear friends Steve Yarbrough, Lori Darr, Tia, Cele, Christian, and Alivia Vences.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Monique Young, the staff at Meadows of Rockwell for their care over the past four and a half years, the doctors and staff at Forsyth Medical Center, including Victoria Parsells, and Doctor Fort for his compassionate, Christ-centered care. They also wish to thank Doctor Ed Hill for his lifelong care and friendship, and Hinkle Hospice House for their exceptional care and compassion.
Memorials may be made in Mary Etta’s memory to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
