Mary Jackie Shaw

Mary Jacqueline Eastep Shaw age 81, of East First Street Ext., died Thursday afternoon at her home after several years of declining health. Funeral Service will be 4:00 PM Sunday (May 7, 2006) at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Jerry Moore, Dr. Billy Joe Leonard and Rev. Don Leonard, burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Jackie, was born in Davidson County October 27, 1924 to Charles Fisher Eastep and Lottie Weaver Eastep and was a member of Second United Church of Christ. She cared for children in her home for many years and was a second mom to many children, before she went to work for Lexington Home Brands Plant 8 where she worked until her retirement in 1989. She was married to R.J. “Smiley” Shaw August 9, 1947 until his death August 6, 1983, also preceded in death by her brothers Shirley and James Eastep. She is survived by daughters, Gwen Younts of the home, Rose Marie Watts and husband John and Amy S. Holmes and husband Dale R. all of Lexington; grandchildren Brian Shane Koonts and wife Jennifer and David Prock and wife Angela; great granchildren, Kristen Allie Koonts, David Gorrel Prock and one on the way. She is also survived, by sister in laws, Louise Goings of Great Falls, SC and Doris Cook of Mooresville, NC The family will receive friends at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME LEXINGTON CHAPEL from 6 until 8 PM Saturday and other times at the home.
