Mary Geneva Smith Shoaf, 92, of Idlewild Drive, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at Hinkle Hospice House, following a serious illness of three months and critical for 8 days. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home. Mrs. Shoaf was born January 13, 1920, to Jessie Lee Smith and Mamie Wicks Smith. She had worked at Wennoah Mills in the Spool department. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harper Shoaf; and brothers, Jessie Clifford Smith, Johnny Smith, Dermont Smith, Max Smith, and R.Z. Smith . Surviving are a daughter, Martha “Marty” Shoaf of Lexington; sister, Rae Smith Myers; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, 210 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292; or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
