Mary Louise was born June 22, 1939, to Price and Mary Bost Wilson. The family moved to Lexington in 1943. After living in Lexington, she met and married Maywood Wilkerson and was married to him for 66 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and served in many leadership roles where her special interests were the Prayer Shawl Knitting Ministry, that she co-founded and the Mayme Weaver Preaching Ministry. In 2009 she was awarded the Laity Service Award. For a number of years, she was a legal secretary until she formed Wilkerson Realty in 1978. She was active with the Lexington Board of Realtors and received the Realtor of the Year Award in 1992 and retired in 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Ray Stewart Wilson and a sister Margaret Wilson who died in childhood.
Surviving, husband, Maywood Wilkerson; daughters, Leslie Dillon of High Point and Cathy Lemly (Greg) of Wake Forest, NC, three grandchildren, Sarah D. Albrecht (Tim) of Chapel Hill, Tyler Dillon (Anne-Levert) of Harrisburg, NC and Wilson Lemly (Mekenzie) of McAdenville, NC, three great-grandchildren, Jasper Louis Dillon, Harper Grace Lemly and Wren Kollyns Lemly.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Cheryl Skinner and Rev. Kirk Tutterow officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
