Matthew Charles Bailey

Matthew Charles Bailey, 24, of Rockcrusher Road, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, from injuries received in an automobile accident. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Freddie Moretz officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at the funeral home and other times at the home of his mother on Linwood Southmont Road. Mr. Bailey was born September 28, 1988, in Gainesville, Fl., to Charles Ray Bailey and Irene Danuff Owens. Matthew was a 2007 graduate of Central Davidson High School. He was attending Davidson County Community College studying to become a fire fighter. He was employed with Vitacost and also a volunteer fireman with the South Lexington Fire Department. Matthew attended Faith Baptist Church of Lexington. He was loved by many and will be missed dearly. Surviving in addition to his parents are a son, Abel Leftwich of Lexington; stepfather, Wayne Owens of Lexington; stepmother, Jill Bailey of Lexington; brothers, C. Ryan Bailey, Shane Owens and wife Jamie, Dwayne Owens and wife Julie, Jeffrey Staten and Derek Staten, all of Lexington; sisters, Stephanie Owens and Dawn Johnson and husband Jason, all of Lexington; grandparents Lisa Danuff of Florida and Daisy Brown of Lexington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to South Lexington Fire Department, Fireman’s Fund, 2000 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
