Matthew Lee Herrin 33 of Winston-Salem passed away at his home on Monday, March 13, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday at Reeds Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Watterson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Friday, March 17, 2017 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. Matthew was born in Forsyth County on January 23, 1984 to Thomas Lee Herrin and Cindy Welch McKnight. He served in the US Army with two tours in Iraq. He coached Impact Baseball, played football at North Davidson High School and was a former Forsyth County Deputy Sheriff on their swat team and worked for the Dize Company. He was preceded in death by his step-mother Kathryn Ragan Herrin. Surviving is his wife Ashley Lauren Herrin of the home; his parents of Winston-Salem; His children, Cohen Lee Herrin, age 8, Fisher Wolff Herrin age 3 and Wylder Thomas Herrin age 2 months all of the home; step-brothers, Charlie Ragan of Charlotte, Andy Ragan of Concord and Nigel Inbraham of the Bahamas; his in-laws, Melinda and David Prim of Winston-Salem; brother- in-laws, Dr. Wess and Laurel McKnight, Adam and Katie McKnight, Jake and Melissa Prim, a sister-in-law, Ellen Wolff; aunts, Teresa Weddington, of Piney Creek, aunt Trudy Higgins and uncle Ron Herrin; also, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
