Mattie Mooney Hall

December 7, 1920 — February 11, 2011

Mattie Mooney Hall, age 90, of Peachtree Street, Lexington passed away Friday morning (February 11, 2011) at her home.  A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Monday (February 14, 2011) at Fairmont Presbyterian Church with Rev. Randy Hall and Rev. Bill Sosebee officiating.   Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the home from 2:00 until 4:00 pm Sunday and at the church from 1:00 until 2:30 Monday, prior to the service. Mattie was born in Surry County December 7, 1920, one of twelve children born to John and Lela Hardy Mooney.  She was a member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church and was the retired owner and operator of Lexington Sewing Center. Her greatest joys were cooking, sewing, and looking after her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William A. Hall, Sr., in 1986; her son Bill Hall; and her ten brothers and sisters. Surviving are: one daughter, Donna Black of Lexington; one son, Rev. Randy Hall and wife Jane of Lexington; six grandchildren, Mark Crowell, Tracy Crowell, Mandy Hall, Matthew Hall, Zach Hall, and Daniel Hall; four great-grandchildren, Elliott Crowell, Luke Crowell, Jordan Truesdale, and Riley Hall; and one sister, Iris Webster of Madison. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Patsy Byerly and Janice Strickland, and the staff of Hospice of Davidson County. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to Fairmont Presbyterian Church, 1510 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington, NC  27292 or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC  27292.
